date: friday, 15 june 2018 | time: 8 am - 11 am
venue: jalan bilal
Advisors and grassroot leaders of ECGRC came to Al Taqwa mosque this morning to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with their Muslim community. This is an annual event which we enjoy very much and it exemplifies how well our multi-racial and multi-religious society comes together to celebrate our different festivals together.
Advisor Lim Swee Say related that this demonstrate how our society is inclusive, cohesive and that our citizens live harmoniously together. Advisor Dr Maliki Osman shared that Al Taqwa mosque used to be a small kampong mosque and as the area expanded, it has grown and adapted to the new changing world. He thanked Ms Winnie Koh (CEO of CHKMH) for being very accommodating to the requests of the mosque through the years and also shared that Siglap IRCC had worked hard with its Religious Organisations to try to solve the parking woes at the mosque during Friday afternoon prayers and during Ramadan.
It is always a special day for me to witness how the different races in Singapore come to celebrate this joyful occasion with our Muslim friends. I am always awed by the beautiful and colourful clothes that our Muslim friends wear to celebrate this special day in their calendar. May we wish all our Muslim friends and their family "Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri".
