MCCY is actively exploring how it can further strengthen the role and position of the IRCCs in the community and to deepen IRCC members’ understanding on race and religion issues so that we could more effectively advise and respond to any inter-faith issues arising in our own community.
In a collaboration with South East CDC, MCCY is conducting a pilot customised training programme for the IRCCs in the South East District. The programme will be rolled out on 16 November 2017 and 3 constituencies in SED have volunteered for the pilot training. All their IRCC members will be invited to participate. Furthermore, all IRCC Chairman in SED will also be invited to attend the training too.
Prior to the roll out of this pilot programme, a lunch meeting was hosted by Mayor Dr Maliki Osman for all SED IRCC Chairman, to provide them a clearer picture and understanding of the programme. The lunch discussion with Mayor Dr Maliki Osman touched on how SED IRCC can be better prepared and able to play a bigger role in maintaining social cohesion within our community. The pilot project is aimed at enhancing and harnessing the connectivity within the community in South East District. If it is successful, it will be rolled out to all the remaining 9 constituencies in SED.
