Mazu, the goddess of the sea, is one of the most loved of all goddesses in Chinese mythology and she is worshipped all over the world, especially by Chinese communities living near to the sea. She is also known as Ma-Tsu, A-ma, Tianhou, Motherly Matriarch, Kuan Yin of the Southern Sea, Daughter of the Dragon and Empress of Heaven. It is said that if you call out her name(s) she will appear to help you.
In celebration of her birthday, our partner Yan Kit temple held a fund raising dinner for their devotees last night. Siglap grassroot leaders, Flora Neighbour Committee and IRCC were invited to celebrate the birthday party with them.
