Siglap IRCC was invited to an interfaith dialogue called 'Sacred Rendezvous' organised by South East CDC. This is part of South East CDC's three–tier pyramid approach to allow for more intensive and effective inter-faith and racial engagements whereby it seeks to widen the reach, heighten awareness and deepen understanding on the different faiths and cultures across various strata of society.
In May 2015, the PM Lee cited the Global Religious Diversity Report which ranked Singapore as the most diverse nation, in terms of religions, out of 232 countries. Diversity is strength when properly cultivated and coordinated. However, if left unattended and taken for granted or let it to be manipulated, it would be disastrous. Singapore's interfaith fabric must be consciously and constantly monitored and nurtured to maintain and strengthen confidence and trust amongst the people of this most religiously diverse nation. In the dialogue, speakers from the Islam, Christian, Sikh and Buddhist faiths shared on why pilgrims leave the attraction (or distraction) and comforts of their modern lives and journey towards their respected sacred rendezvous.
The Mayor of South East District and Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Defence, Dr Maliki Osman, was the Guest of Honour for this interfaith dialogue. Future talks scheduled in 2017 by South East CDC includes: Follow that Rainbow, Holy Smoke and Pop up the Soul.
