Interfaith Durian & Networking Event
Date; saturday, 23 july16 | time: 3 pm - 5.30 pm
venue: amazing grace presbyterian church
Siglap IRCC organised this event today to enable its partners and community leaders to get to know each other and to network. The GOH was our Advisor (Dr Maliki Osman) and he shared on the need for us to be vigilant in lieu of the constant acts of terrorism happening each week. Dr. Maliki related that the threat of terrorism is very real and IRCC has to play a role when MHA launches the SG Secure initiative. Our country is not under sieze but we need to prepare for the eventuality and to be able to recover fast if an untoward act of terrorism occurs. He said that ISIS sow seeds of discontent/discord and this leads to state failure e.g. in Syria. They then take over the country when this happens. He said that all our religious organisations and community leaders must play a part in helping and reachng out to our residents.
Three short talks on "Marriage Rites" were then presented by Rev. Lim (Bedok Methodist Church), Master Wei Yi (Taoist Federation) and Ustaz Maaz (Al_Taqwa Mosque) respectively. They shared their views from the Christian, Taoist and Muslim perspectives. After the talk, the guests were treated to a durian feast. We wish to thank our partner and host Amazing Grace Presbyterian Church for sponsoring this event.
