IRCc national convention 2018
date: saturday: 27 Jan 2018 | Time: 8.30 am - 1 pm
venue: suntec convention Level 3
MCCY organised the National IRCC Convention 2018 at Suntec Convention Centre today. It brought religious and community leaders together with the aim of deepening understanding through dialogue, strengthen bonds and to build community resilience. The GOH was President Halimah and she shared that Singapore has one of the most diverse society in the world. We have enjoyed relative peace and harmony since the last racial riot in 1965. There is mutual respect for each other’s religion and we need to find common ground and build shared values. A united people helping and caring for each other. Every generation needs a champion to ensure racial harmony and cohesion in our country.
The conference had breakout sessions and participants were free to choose from topics such as:
1. Jihad Selfie
2. The ties that overcome threats to trust
3. Inconvenient questions on race and religion
4. Common senses for common spaces
5. Speak up speak out
It was a well organised conference and kudos to the MCCY team for a job well done. We look forward to next year’s national convention.
