Pa Community Seminar 2022 – Building a Broader PA Movement

The above seminar was organised by the People’s Association (PA) this morning and it was held at Our Tampines Hub (OTH). Partners of PA were invited to join and share on how the partnership can be enhanced, strengthened and grow further.
DPM Lawrence Wong was the GOH and he shared that PA was not an event organiser but rather it was tasked to build stronger communities. Their mandate was to build consensus amongst our diverse community. The task of PA is to provide a platform for our people to participate in nation building and to solve problems in practical ways. He added that we are a people who possess a “Can Do Attitude” or “Pak Si Bei Zao”. Our people and community are builders and with our Singapore spirit, we continuously chart for a better Singapore with each passing day.
Minister Edwin Tong shared that the task at hand was to build a broader PA Movement and it includes (amongst other things):
This community seminar was organised after an absence of 3 years (due to the Covid pandemic). It was good to see many participants in the seminar whereby old friendships were rekindled and new friendships were established to enable us to serve our residents better.

- Strengthen solidarity and help our fellow citizens for common good
- Refresh our social compact with Forward Singapore
- Expand network to serve more people and provide better service
- Promote cause-based community volunteering
- Promote civic participation in local neighbourhood
- Refresh and strengthen grassroots backbone
- Launching of Grassroots mentor scheme, etc.
