Siglap IRCC Appointment Ceremony
date: saturday, 22 april 2017 | time: 5 pm - 8 pm
venue: sia group sports centre
Advisor Dr Maliki Osman appointed Siglap IRCC members for the new 2 year term (1st April 2017 to 31st March 2019) at the SIA Group Sports Centre yesterday evening. He shared with members on the importance of maintaining social understanding and social cohesion in our multi-cultural and multi-racial society Singapore. He related that religion is being used to radicalise our youths and asked whether we (Singaporeans) are ready to respond to a terror attack and whether our social cohesion is strong enough to withstand such an attack? As such, we all need to plug into and play a more active role in SG Secure (an overarching government effort to prepare and make Singapore ready for any eventual terror attack). It is no longer a question of "If" but rather "When" such an attack will occur.
Dr Maliki Osman shared on the need to develop champions of racial & social harmony to facilitate interfaith engagements, to support sustainable group-up initiatives and efforts as well as to promote greater awareness & appreciation of racial and social harmony. The South East CDC has launched the Common Sense for Common Spaces (CSCS Interfaith Dialogue Series) and the next talk is on "Pop Up The Soul" which will be held on Saturday, 29 April 2017, 4.00pm – 6.30pm, at Dunman High School. Pop up the Soul explores the sounds of spirituality and commonality. If you are interested in attending this talk, do sign up directly at https://goo.gl/CC43FR.
We wish to thank all the religious organisations in our community in their continuous efforts in promoting racial understanding and social cohesion in our multi-religious and multi-racial country.
