At the International Conference on Cohesive Societies, the “Commitment to Safeguard Religious Harmony “ was unveiled by the religious leaders of Singapore. They reaffirmed their commitment to:
1) Upholding Freedom of Religion
2) Building Stronger Bonds
3) Fostering a Culture of Consideration and Mutual Understanding
4) Sharing and Propagating Beliefs Respectfully and Sensitively
5) Maintaining Solidarity in Crisis
6) Supporting Institutional Efforts
7) Safeguarding Religious Harmony for a Better Singapore for All
Singapore is a multi cultural, multi racial and multi religious country and we strive to live in harmony and work hard each day to keep our country peaceful. In our technological age, we are not isolated and disruption can occur easily from our increased connectivity with the world.
King Abdullah was the special guest speaker at the ICCS conference and he articulated the importance of living harmoniously in diverse communities. The conference focuses on the theme on “Many Communities, One Shared Future“. It provided a platform for participants to discuss ways to forge stronger interfaith understanding and develop new ideas to foster greater harmony in societies.
